This Water Company is looking for a Civil Design Engineer to work in the Anglian Region. Working alongside a contracting organisation within a multi-disciplinary design house the Civil Design Department has forged a strong reputation for providing responsive and efficient design solutions encapsulating the requirements of mechanical, process and electrical engineering whilst ensuring safe and rationalised construction. As such the role of the department lies firmly within the timely design and delivery of cost effective construction detailing in reinforced concrete, structural steelwork and masonry. Working within the department and liaising throughout the wider organisation the role of the Civil Design Department engineer is to collect, balance, develop and implement a wide spectrum of requirements across a varied and challenging workload scattered across water industries both in the UK and abroad. New members of the department will draw on a highly skilled and experienced team of engineers and technicians providing support and encouragement throughout. The department will also provide training under agreement towards Chartered status for both the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers. Additionally as a design and build contractor, the client is well placed to provide site experience as part of the specific requirements of the training agreement. You will produce superior quality engineering design services to allow the company to minimise risks and maximise profits on Turnkey and Consultancy projects. You will be responsible for the delivery of design calculations and associated documentation and for the development of contract and tender documents and drawings to contract, H&S standards and budget. You will be required to liaise with site personnel, sub contract suppliers and other designers and assist in the development of junior staff. You will be required to deputise for the Senior Civil Design engineer as and when required. Key Skills
Ability to carry out detailed design to current standards Ability to present technical proposals clearly to relevant personnel A flexible mind with the ability to assimilate data for the deign process. Good negotiation skills Good interpersonal skills Qualifications and Experience Minimum civil engineering degree or equivalent with at least 2 years relevant design office experience. Experience of designing civil engineering structures and the production of design office deliverables. One years experience in the water industry preferred but not essential.
