Our client is a market leader in the design and manufacture of special purpose robotic automation for plastic demoulding applications including their own range of 3-axis Cartesian robots.

Due to retirement they now seek to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to undertake the design and development of new projects from initial concept through to handover.

A prime function of this role is to be involved in the development and redesign/engineering of the existing standard product range to produce a new generation of multi axis robotic machines; therefore candidates must have a proven design capability and the ability to generate designs from a 'blank sheet'.

Duties will also include taking the customers URS from Sales Engineers to produce the FDS and concepts for new machines or modification drawings to existing equipment to meet the customers requirements, producing detailed drawings, assembly drawings and bills of materials for all designs utilising CAD and all relevant documentation.

The ideal person for this role will already have developed a proven background in the design of turnkey robotic automation ideally 'pick and place' multi-axis robots or multi-axis machine tool applications. Candidates will be bright, switched on team players, ideally be time-served and possess a good mechanical engineering brain. AutoCAD experience is essential and any 3D CAD experience would be an advantage in particular SolidEdge.
