QUANTITY SURVEYOR: KENDAL, Cumbria: Salary dependant on experience up to £50,000 Plus package. This is a very exciting position that is working for one of the world?s largest and most diverse multi-discipline consultancies. The business operates within 50 UK offices and specialises in the areas of: design, civil engineering, environment, management and transport sectors. This position is unique in the way it is the first of its kind. This position is based in Kendal and is to be the only surveyor for that region. You will be supported by the strong Commercial team based in Carlisle but this position will have to effectivly manage the responsibilities for the Commercial team for the region. This is a very hands on role that will require some travelling to regional sites as well as travelling to some other regional offices. I am ideally looking for a candidate who has experience of working within a team and has developed to now feel that they can take responsibilty for their own projects and area to develop and with the longer term goal of being to recruit a team to work around you as the role progresses. This position will intially take responsibilty for a large area within which the current projects include a range of educational projects which are part of a huge contract for the local council in the area and this work will continue over the next 12 months with an estimated value just for the region being in excess of £15m. Aside from that the portfolio of work comes from a wide range of areas within building services and offers a diverse and challenging range of projects. Candidates will have at least 2 years experience with a recognised professional qualification or degree or equivalent. Alternatively, they may be a surveyor or Cost Engineer and hold lower qualifications but have a greater relevant experience. They will have knowledge of industry conditions of contract and be experienced in negotiating and influencing the resolution of construction contract accounts. They should also have knowledge and experience of assisting with commercial contract management within the building services sector. They must be technically experienced and have knowledge of basic estimating, valuations, cost control and cost reporting. Responsibilities The key role is to provide technical and commercial support for a post-contract commercial team. The candidate will also be required to assist with the accurate monitoring, management and reporting on contracts including prompt notification of all variances, forecasts, budget matters, change control, disputes and the like.
