My client is a world leader in the approval of products and services within the fire, security, construction, environmental and loss prevention markets. With customers in over 40 countries, our Red Book is used by insurers, regulators, clients and specifiers worldwide to select the products and services they use for fire protection.
Who are looking to appoint a Technician to provide technical support for Fire Extinguisher Testing and Sprinkler System product testing. The role will involve occasional travel to client sites and is of a physically demanding nature.
Key responsibilities
• Hands on fire fighting (exposure to real test fires).
• Fire testing of portable extinguishers and fire blankets.
• Preparation, building and manoeuvring of test equipment.
• This can occasionally involve manual heavy lifting.
• Prepare written reports and test programmes.
Skills and Competencies
• ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Ability to read and follow technical standards and testing procedures.
• Proficient with hand tools.
• Comfortable being in close proximity and working with controlled test fire sources.
Must have good communication skills.
• Proficient in IT using packages such as MS word, Outlook and Excel.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Commitment to team work
• Excellent customer service skills.
Previous experience in a similar role would be highly advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided in accordance with our Health & Safety procedures.
