My client, who has requested I assist in finding a suitable H&S/Waste Minimisation Officer to join their organisation now.

You will be reporting to the Assurance Manager and your purpose will include:-
• To Manage Waste Minimisation activities within the Facility.
• Provide a Focal Point for Health and Safety within the Facility.
• To ensure the Facility achieves business requirements in a safe manner.
• Support of other Facility Assurance functions including Environment and Quality.

Key Accountabilities
• Provide an appropriate strategy for Waste Management (Minimisation) within the Facility.
• Management of Safety Legislation and Company Safety Policy within the Facility and be a focal point for advice.
• Promote the development of safety awareness/culture within the Facility.
• Work with the Assurance team to liaise with supporting safety professionals to ensure compliance with statutory and corporate safety legislation.
• Provide the appropriate interface with Regulator Representatives, ensuring the availability of demonstrable evidence at all times.

Key Responsibilities
• To perform the role of Waste Minimisation Liaison Officer for the Facility.
• Manage business unit waste arisings and fulfil the role of Facility Waste Minimisation Manager.
• To manage the Waste Stream Quality Control Plans and Waste Stream Characterisation Questionnaires across the business unit.
• Manage the Facility in the organisation for disposal of redundant facilities within the business unit and provide leadership in the area of waste minimisation.
• To ensure the Company Safety Standards are applied throughout the Business Area.
• Provide quality safety advice and assist with operating groups within the Business Area.
• Provide input to Case for Continued Operation and Quarterly Assurance Reports.
• Act as Facility Emergency Controller.
• Undertake Risk Assessments, (including Fire, COSHH, Manual Handling, PPE, RPE, DSE, PUWER & Noise).
• Act as waste / safety authority in the Facility Modification Control and Safe Systems of Work Committees.
• To manage, or be involved with the investigation of incidents/accidents as required.
• To safeguard company information and assets from unauthorised access or disclosure, report security breaches and apply security at all times.
• To participate in and report on Company, Directorate and Local quality and safety audits also supporting the Manufacturing Department’s audit programme etc.
• To actively participate and contribute towards Continuous Improvement within the business unit.
• To support the Assurance Manager and Building Manager in ensuring all key responsibilities with regard to the Company’s Environment, Health, Safety, and Quality Standards are met.
• To promote the development of safety awareness / culture within the Facility i.e. through monthly assurance circles.
• To carry out any other task at the request of Facility Management.

To be eligible for this role you will need the following skills, qualifications and knowledge:-
• Degree in engineering/relevant discipline or equivalent vocational experience.
• NEBOSH certificate or equivalent.
• An understanding of UK Safety Legislation and the applicability to the workplace.
• Environment/Waste Management principles.
• Experience working in a high hazard industry relevant to significant environmental aspects.
• Experience undertaking risk assessments.
• Experience using change management practices
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels; decision making; working under pressure; team working. Engineering and technical abilities; Investigation techniques; Report writing; Continuous improvement techniques.

Because of the nature of the work undertaken at my clients' site, this post is required to meet special nationality rules and therefore are only open to British Citizens. All selected candidates will be required to undergo security clearance.
