MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: To coordinate Dimensional Control inspections during the fabrication, construction and assembly of ship?s structural units involving stakeholders such as production, Lloyds Register and the client as appropriate. To carry out Dimensional Control inspections using Total Stations and 3D software packages during the fabrication, construction and assembly of ship?s structural units. To produce and distribute DC reports to relevant stakeholders. To maintain records for quality / build assurance purposes. To liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and to provide a focal point for all DC enquiries and ensure the DC programme is achieved. Identify trends and suggest problem resolutions, either through process or system modifications. MAIN TASKS: Plan / Co-ordinate DC inspections. Conduct DC inspections. Monitor the construction / assembly process to ensure compliance. Populate DC database. Attend wash-up meetings as required. Generate and distribute DC reports. Compile DC records for contract acceptance. Carry out any other duties assigned by the Dimensional Control Manager. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: Essential: Proven experience of Dimensional Control using Total Stations and 3D software packages with a ship constructive background. Good working knowledge of 3D drawing packages such as AutoCAD and Rhino 3D Good working knowledge of ship-building practices and standards. Ability to read and interpret ship construction drawings & specifications. Good communication skills with the ability to collate and present information at appropriate levels. Proactive but with the ability to react quickly when necessary to meet challenging objectives. Desirable: Good IT skills Good interpersonal Skills Training: A training and development plan will be provided for the successful candidate along with comprehensive on the job training.
