Salary: Up to £87,000 or $174,000 per annum (plus benefits)
BRIEF DESCRIPTION
As an integral member of the Technical Risks Engineering team your position entails the timely provision of accurate and succinct advice and opinion to our underwriters. The position entails responsibilities and functions for:
*Reporting:
oUndertaking in a timely manner, Desk Top Reviews (DTR's) of an engineering and/or property nature,
oUndertaking in a timely manner Surveys with associated reports for new, existing and renewals business.
oReporting emphasis is on construction and operation for power, oil, petroleum, gas and heavy industry.
oReporting utilizes a self-managing Work Management System (WMS) for job allocation, monitoring and tracking,
*Product Championship:
oAccept, develop and maintain responsibility for the Middle East function of TRE by way of dissemination and authorization of relevant information via the TREI (Technical Risks Engineering Intranet),
oAccept, develop and maintain responsibility with major civil engineering companies and consultants,
*Geographical:
oAccept responsibility and accountability for servicing underwriting engineering needs on a Middle East basis with key job functions:
§Working in partnership with our Middle East heads of Construction and Operational Technical Risks Underwriting.
§Assisting in the development of portfolio and division strategies including new business opportunities by working in association with underwriters to afford presentations to clients, brokers and others.
*General:
oDevelop and maintain, within overall Technical Risk Engineering department strategy, business relationships with brokers and clients,
oAssist in the training and development of underwriting staff,
oAssist claims in the engineering component of claims settlement,
The engineering function ensures the effective maintenance of ACE Technical Risks underwriting and engineering strategy in accordance with procedures laid down by ACE TRE Europe.
The position holds reporting functions that are prioritized and linked to the formal Performance Management Process (PMP's) salary awards. In addition, survey and reporting holds financial Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) with brokers and clients.
Engineering Qualifications.
*Engineering degree or similar higher educational qualification.
*English as a first language with fluency in French and Arabic a benefit.
Industrial and Insurance Industry Experience.
*A minimum of ten years hands-on heavy civil engineering/industrial experience preferably gained whilst gaining progressive engineering responsibility in Europe or Middle East,
oExperience in power, oil and petrochemicals would be a significant advantage
*Insurance engineering experience gained with a recognised lead insurer would be beneficial but not essential,
*Excellent communication and negotiating skills with ability to work both on own initiative and as an effective team member,
*PC literate with a good working knowledge of Microsoft systems including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc....
*Ability to travel on worldwide basis.
