My client a Global Exporting Company within the Construction, Mining, Power Generation and Materials Handling Equipment are seeking a Health and Saftey Manager to join their team in Slough. With extensive travel to East and West Africa.

JOB OUTLINE
Overall responsible for continually improving the Health and Safety at work for all employees within the group.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop Health & Safety Policies relevant to all types of work places, this includes
• Expatriates
• Mine Sites
• Workshops
• To maintain a system for recording, reporting and investigating injuries, accidents and dangerous occurrences. Provide statistical summaries to the management team.
• Monitor safety performance through internal audits.
• Train and coach line managers and other relevant people in Health and Safety issues.
• Develop a range of communcation medium e.g. safety website, health and safety
• Proper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and implementation of measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the assessments.
• Liaise with relevant managers re the provision and use of relevant safety equipment and clothing etc.
• To receive and investigate reports of accidents, dangerous occurrences and fire damage, determine their causes and make recommendations for improving recurrence prevention and controls.
• Assist in preparation of site and project specific operating procedures to ensure contract obligations are met.

LOCATIONS
This job will entail extensive overseas travel (approx 70% of time).
Countries presently covered include UK, Egypt, Russia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

KNOWLEDGE
Must be fully familiar with UK Health and Safety legislation
Engineering (industry experience useful)
Experience of working overseas essential

SKILLS
3-5 years relevant site experience in Health, Safety and Environmental
Degree in Quality/Safety or Engineering discipline with proven experience in Safety Management in a multi discipline organisation
Computer – Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook (required at Intermediate level)
Engineering/Construction background (preferable but not essential)

QUALIFICATIONS
NEBOSH Qualified
