My client is seeking an individual to assist the Materials and Measurement Sciences Division to deliver assurance performance, and in particular safety performance, as required by the Company’s Assurance Management System.

Key accountabilities
• To provide assurance support and assistance to the Materials and Measurement Sciences Division (MMSD) Assurance Manager, MMSD Facility Managers and other MMSD staff
• To provide to MMSD Group Leaders and Facility Managers the information and documentation required to ensure compliance with the Company’s Assurance Management System, with particular emphasis on safety management
• To discharge the role of Deputy Facility Environmental Representative

Responsibilities
• To operate within the company standards relating to Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health
• Communication
1. Provide advice on assurance issues
2. Communicate with other staff on assurance matters
3. Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Assurance Reports summarising performance against relevant Key Performance Indicators
4. Conduct safety awareness training such as toolbox talks
• Hazard Identification and Control
1. Member of the Materials and Measurement Sciences Division (MMSD) Modification Control Committee
2. Member of Local Management Assurance Inspection group
3. Emergency Response plan review
4. Accident/Incident investigator as required
5. Auditor
6. Provide safety assessment support services including: Risk assessment, COSHH Assessment, DSEAR Assessment, DSE Assessment, etc
• Other Requirements
1. Act as MMSD Contractor & Supplier evaluator - carry out safety, quality and environmental evaluation for all equipment supplied, contracts and contractor services
2. Act as MMSD Risk Assessor accreditor
3. Support behavioural safety initiatives
4. Assist in Safety Case/Case for Continued Operations preparation and review
5. Participation in BPM/Environmental Options Studies
6. Undertake audits to determine compliance with standards and to identify where improvements required

Qualifications
• Degree in safety management, or, qualified to degree / HND / HNC level with certified training in safety

Knowledge
• Up to date knowledge of UK safety legislation and standards
• Knowledge of Environmental Management Systems and legislation is preferred

Experience
• Demonstrated operational experience of safety management
• Proven experience in environmental management is preferred

Skills
• Good presentation, communication, organisational, interpersonal and IT skills

Behaviours
• Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative
• Ability to work to tight timescales
• Ability to lead meetings on assurance & environmental issues
