My client is seeking an individual to Support the Assurance Team Leader in assuring compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation and associated Management Systems for identified Operational / Business Areas. To provide a day-to-day focal point for assurance issues and matters for the respective Operational / Business Area.
Key accountabilities
• Provision of comprehensive assurance advice on issues and matters allied to the respective Operational / Business Area
• Interface, as appropriate, with Stakeholders associated with the Operational / Business Area
• Review and advise on Safe Systems of Work to ensure compliance with legislative and AWE Management Systems requirements and standards
• Undertake, where required and if suitable, the Safety Advisor role for Operational / Business Area Modification Change Control Committees
• Delivery of assurance training / briefings / initiatives / tool-box talks as required
• Undertake audit and review activities of associated Operational / Business Area assurance arrangements, systems and processes to determine compliance and identify potential improvement activities
• Monitor and facilitate progress on Assurance Improvement Programs, Non Conformance Reports, KPI’s, and Local Actions etc. for the Operational / Business Area
• Deputise, on request, for the Team Leader Assurance
• Other duties within the knowledge, experience and capability of the Post Holder as agreed with the Team Leader Assurance
Responsibilities
• To operate within the company standards relating to Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health
• Positively promote assurance awareness and understanding to associated Operational/Business area/Contract staff
Qualifications
• Obtained, or working towards, NVQ L3 (Health & Safety), NEBOSH Certificate and / or formally recognised equivalent occupational health and safety qualification
• Obtained, or working towards, recognised qualification in audit, accident/incident investigation and peer review areas
Knowledge
• Knowledge of principal UK Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation and associated requirements is essential
• Knowledge of BS EN ISO 9000, 14001 & 18001 Series is essential
• Modification Control and Hazard Categorisation is desirable
• Hazard identification / risk assessment and principles and techniques is essential
• Accident Investigation and Prevention techniques is desirable
• Audit techniques is desirable
• Nuclear Installations Inspectorate Licence Conditions is desirable
Experience
• Relevant post assurance qualification operational experience including demonstrable commitment and evidence of continuing professional development with a recognised and relevant professional body
• Experience of working on a Nuclear Licensed Site or another high hazard / highly regulated industry is desirable

• Good written/presentation and oral communication skills
• Ability to establish effective working relationships
• Knowing own limitations and where to seek further specialist guidance / advice

Special Requirements
• Willing to enter RA areas and wear appropriate PPE
