My client is seeking an individual who will operate the configuration and monitoring of cyber security systems; data collation, interpretation and delivery of actionable reports to provide insight for management into network security issues and to demonstrate compliance with the Company policy, highlighting areas of increased risk

Key accountabilities
• Managing output from network security management system
• Monitoring activity on corporate networks for compliance against Company policy
• Identification of external intrusion into corporate networks
• Damage limitation initiation in the event of unauthorised activity identified
• Support the development of the Security Intelligence picture
• Formal reporting of analysis, actions and conclusions

Responsibilities
• Tune the network security management system to optimise balance between actionable data and false positive triggers
• Monitor and analyse data produced in security management applications
• Initiate response to positive triggers in accordance with formal procedures
• Produce reports based on output from network security management systems
• Build behavioural models and trends of network activity

Qualifications
• A good level of general education, including basic qualifications in literacy and numeracy
• CISSP / CISA / CEH would be advantageous

Knowledge
• IT and Information Security principles
• Security requirements when operating within MoD environments
• Conversant with HMG InfoSec Standards
• Broad knowledge of general security approaches to Physical Security, Personnel Security, Security Audit, Security Investigation and Incident Response

Experience
• Extensive relevant experience, preferably in a proactive security role in a large commercial company, Government or military environment
• Exposure to security monitoring, auditing and investigation

Skills
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Technical proficiency with a range of IT systems
• Demonstrable cyber security analysis capability
• Good presentation skills
• The ability to operate under pressure
• Tenacious and able to defend conclusions
