Our prestigious EPC oil and gas company is currently seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer for their Paddington, London offices. The candidates will provide technical expertise and support corporately and/or within dedicated project teams to ensure the technical integrity of control and instrumentation system design and engineering. You will also be required to successfully manage and co-ordinate a dedicated team of discipline engineers and designers to meet the technical, cost and schedule requirements on an assigned project. The candidate will provide supervision, technical support and guidance to subordinate engineers and designers.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Corporate line responsibility to the Chief EIT Engineer.
To assume complete responsibility for the electrical power and distribution system on a project or proposal as assigned by the Chief Engineer (EIT).
Must be capable of working in a dynamic EPC Lump Sum project environment driven by contractual agreements, schedules and milestones and feel comfortable taking technical, managerial and project control (manpower, schedule, cost) responsibilities.
Approval of all technical decisions made by engineers and designers allocated to the electrical team for a particular project. This will include production of project specifications, formulating technical content of requisitions, approval of vendor data and relevant CB&I drawings and documents.
Preparation/checking of engineering calculations.
Report on a regular basis on all matters affecting technical problems, costs, or programme on both a Project and Corporate basis as necessary.
Provide technical assistance and support at Vendors' works and on-site during factory Acceptance Tests, commissioning and start-up.
Compliance with all project instructions and company EHS procedures.
Co-ordination and control of engineering man-hours and costs associated with the electrical engineering component of the project or proposal.
Qualifications and Experience
Relevant experience in contracting or related industries plus experience in a leading role in the contracting industry.
This experience must include all aspects of the particular technology engineering phases, from conceptual design to support for the Construction and Commissioning Groups.
This must also include the supervision of the other members of the group assigned both for technical adequacy of design and for control of man hours and all associated costs.
He/she must be familiar with the application of current planning techniques and must be capable of formulating budgets and programmes to cover his/her work content
