We are currently seeking a chemistry and environmental technician to work for a leading EfW facility based in Dumfries.

Working on a CHP plant, managing the plant liquid/water chemistry. Assisting with the environmental management and control, ensuring that the plant meets all environmental, health and safety legislations.

The successful candidate will be analysing water and steam samples within the plant, liaising with technical managers and advising of any maintenance required and documenting your findings.

You should be able to offer advice on water treatment plant problems to senior management and other chemistry specialists so you will need to have an excellent technical understanding of boiler chemistry control, ion exchange water treatment and good communication skills.

The position will also require you to liaise with the environment agency and regulators of the power generation industry and contribute to the plants health and safety issues.

We are seeking a candidate that has chemistry A level, ONC, BTEC (or equivalent). You will have good mathematical skills and ideally experience working within the water treatment industry and have gained lab experience.

Be able to interpret and understand technical and scientific literature, practical experience in chemical boiler water control.
Knowledge of modern water technology, the ability to write technical reports and able to use data spreadsheets.
