Our client is a specialist in the design and construction of blast furnaces. Due to a busy World market they are currently looking to recruit several Process Engineers to join their North East based team. Candidates of all levels will be considered, and the role will involve production of process design calculations (heat and mass balance, fluid dynamics, heat transfer), P&ID?s, process flow diagrams, process data sheets. There will be a need to liaise with other disciplines within the business in order to expedite the design process, answering queries as required. There will also be an involvement in the execution of the relevant Health and Safety Reviews including Hazops. Additionally the successful applicant will assist in the writing of the Operating and Commissioning Manuals, and take part in the commissioning process on site as appropriate, typically acting as team leader. Duties will also include providing technical support to the Sales Team and Client liaison. The majority of projects will involve overseas travel at some point, and it is likely that the successful candidate will spend significant periods of time away from home. There are current projects in the likes of the US, South Korea, Japan, and Brazil; and a significant uplift on the basic salary is payable for time spent away. Applicants should hold a Degree in Chemical Engineering or a mineral engineering related subject, and have experience of both process design and site based commissioning on plant utilities related projects. Any experience of blast furnace process design and/or materials handling would be advantageous.
