Our prestigious mass transit rail client is currently seeking an experience Civil and Structural Design Engineer for their Central London offices. You will be responsible to The Senior Design/Assessment Engineer (Civil Design and Assessment), for assisting in preparation of feasibility studies, design (Civil and Structural) and appraisal and assessments of civil/structural engineering structures in support of my client. Work will be carried out under regular managerial guidance, using established principles to develop competitive and innovative solutions.
Accountabilities:
Accountable to the Senior Civil Design/Assessment Engineer for delivery of Designs/Assessments) to agreed programme and budget.
Provide support to the Senior Design/Assessment Engineer for the management of the Civil Design and Assessment Team to ensure optimum use of resources.
Undertake appropriate structural inspection, investigations, testing (Materials and site testing), condition and dimensional surveys as required for the preparation of civil and structural engineering designs and assessments.
Undertake designs/assessments as directed by the Senior Design/Assessment Engineer and act as Task Manager.
Undertake individual projects, or parts of projects, with the support of more senior project/engineering managers in order to contribute to overall project delivery including project assurance and close-out.
Analyse and communicate engineering data effectively to help identify potential risks and ensure appropriate actions and management decisions are taken.
Ensure all works are carried out in compliance with LU Standards and Procedures and my clients local procedures.
Ensure appropriate training is obtained to carry out the works effectively and safely for self and others and maintain validity of certificates.
Identify areas for improvement. Assist in proposing new or amended procedures where appropriate.
Encourage the implementation of best practice where appropriate.
Manage the provision of site access and appropriate safety protection when undertaking works on or about the railway.
Carryout site inspection and supervision of construction works for compliance and assurance purposes as directed by the Principal Engineer.
Experience, know-how, qualifications and licences:
Essential:
Graduate Engineer (completed training scheme) working towards his/her charter ship (CEng, MICE or MIStructE) with considerable experience in Design/Assessment
Or
Engineer with HNC, ONC or similar qualification in Civil/Structural engineering with extensive experience in Design/Assessment
LUL Entry permit (Training given)
Fire safety training (Training given)
LUL Track and Depot accustomed training (Training given, subject to passing medical criteria for sight and hearing)
CSCS Certified to Manager level
Critical :
LUL Railway Engineering experience
Knowledge of LUL Standards and Procedures
Non-Critical
PTS network rail safety training (project driven)
