PURPOSE OF THE JOB To support installed Safety Systems. Including small modifications and implementation of minor projects, assist with commissioning, training, maintenance, and emergency call-out arrangements. To liaise with customers offer technical assistance and to take part in reciprocal support with our European colleagues whereby engineering resources are shared between European operations to provide comprehensive customer support KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES Assume primary support role for Our Clients Pro-Safe safety control systems primarily hardwired but also programmable where required (including 24 hour call out rota) Assist Engineering Supervisor in developing / maintaining all necessary procedures & documentation associated with IEC61508/61511 certification. To prepare quotations for safety system support, modifications and minor projects. To assist with quotations for the renewal of the support contracts as they become due. To assist with Training when requested, and to ensure full conversancy with the latest versions of Safety Shutdown & Distributed Control Systems. Plan and control allocated work within time and budget constraints. Develop customer awareness of Our Clients safety engineering capabilities. Maintain a medical/survival registration for offshore working To offer technical help to customers both external and internal. To assist with the design, installation and commissioning of systems in conjunction with the commissioning team. To assist in the maintenance of the demonstration equipment and customer training equipment. Whilst the role calls for an emphasis on safety, it is expected that a full and flexible approach will be adopted for all Technical Engineering requirements. To update the operations supervisor on all relevant matters at all times. To be flexible in working environment and location, in the UK and Overseas, consistent with good working practices and those countries the UK government consider a safe location to visit. Performing Preventative and Shutdown maintenance. Able to support general administration activities both technical and non technical. To assist in anyway not previously detailed to ensure the continuance and growth of Our Client. EDUCATION / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS Essential: Recognised qualification in Control Engineering or equivalent. Holder of Offshore survival/medical certificates or prepared to undergo training on commencement of the post. Desirable: Training in office computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, programming languages. Knowledge of IEE 17th edition wiring regulations. Leadership ability. Microsoft NT/2000/XP/VISTA experience EXPERIENCE Essential: Minimum of 5 years experience in an industrial and technical environment. Experience with the maintenance of Safety Shutdown & Distributed Control Systems offshore. Team-working within a busy office environment. Dealing with urgent customer enquiries. Desirable: Experience in the preparation of quotations and reports. Use of computer based reporting and order handling systems.
